William Antliff and Sarah Turner were married in Kneesall, Nottinghamshire, on 31 May 1824.[1] The marriage took place in St. Bartholomew's Church (Anglican).[2] The couple had posted banns. Witnesses were John Turtle and William Lee.[3]
The 1841 census recorded William Antcliff, age 40-44 and an agricultural labourer, in Kneesal, Nottinghamshire, with Sarah, age 35-39; sons William, 12, and George, 6; and daughters Mary, 3, and Jane, 1.[4]
The 1861 census recorded agricultural labourer William Antcliff, age 60, in Kneesal, Nottinghamshire (Southwell registration district), with wife Sarah, age 55 and a nurse, and daughters, Ann, 11, and Sarah, 7, both described as scholars. All were born in Kneesall except for his wife Sarah, who was born in Ompton, Nottinghamshire.[5]
