Sources

  • First-hand information. Entered by Van Anthony at registration.

I have been working my family Genealogy since the early 1980's. I have used Family Tree Maker, Ancestry & family heirlooms to create my file of over 1100 names. It seems rather easy to find information for many branches of my tree but my family surname root has been stuck in the same place for many years now. My 4th Great Grandfather Louis Anthony (estimated birth 1811) came to America with his wife Marguerite Frederica Knoderer. All indications are they settled in Ohio. He was a leather worker.

Hi Van,

This is your last stop on the guided tour. Hopefully, you're feeling like a WikiTree pro! If not, you can always revisit the tour stops via the comment boxes on the right side of your profile.

This tour has covered a lot of ground so far. Our last stop gives you a few more tools that can take you even deeper into the WikiTree forest without getting lost: How to Dig a Little Deeper.

You may have been hard at work getting connected to family members who are already here and adding those who were missing. You probably have at least a few profiles that you manage now.

There's a fast and easy way to access those profiles using the Watchlist. So, this week we're going to look at How to Manage Your Watchlist.

Please let one of us know if you have questions! Just click my name above the comment, then ask in the comment section of my page. We want to help!

Thanks, WikiMessenger Cindy

You've been here for several weeks now! We hope your profiles are starting to come together and that you've enjoyed getting to know us a little better.

You're probably getting a good feel for the collaborative nature of WikiTree by now. We know that collaboration isn't always easy. So, we've put together a few pointers that can make working in this type of environment a little easier: How to be a Successful WikiTreer.

Don’t hesitate to ask questions as that is the only way we gain knowledge!

Thanks, WikiMessenger Cindy

Hi Van,

It's time for the next stop on your guided tour.

This week, we'd like to introduce you to the WikiTree community, including ways to get involved, and how to stay updated on new developments: How to Join in the Community.

If you haven't signed the Honor Code yet, please stop by to check it out. It's the core of how WikiTree works, and members have more editing privileges after signing it.

I'm always happy to answer questions!

Hi Van! Unfortunately, WikiTree does not have an actual records repository, but what we *do* have is a community of helpful and friendly genealogists who like a challenge! :-) So please feel free to post a question in our G2G forum:

http://www.wikitree.com/g2g Who knows, perhaps someone will have the answers you're looking for, or can help you find them!

There is definitely a learning curve to using WikiTree. Have you had a chance to look through our tutorial? The first page is here: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/How_to_Start_Climbing_Our_Tree

And I'm here to help too, just ask.  :-)

Take care.

Hi Van

You are now a confirmed member, and you can get started adding your family members. As we've said, WikiTree is quite different from other genealogy sites. So, we've put together a guided tour to help you learn how to use it. Your first stop is

How to Start Climbing Our Tree.

Tomorrow, you'll hear from a Mentor who will check in to see how you're doing and answer any questions you might have.

Next week, you'll get another message with your next stop on the guided tour.

You can have fun with our Question of the Week in the G2G forum:

What tips do you have for interviewing relatives?

Welcome

Hi Van

Welcome to WikiTree! The initial email from us has helpful links that will get you started. WikiTree is different because our goal is to have one profile per person, and that means we all work together as a BIG collaborative team!

Are you, like myself, interested in how your family fits into the big tree? Do you have research you’d like to share? When you confirm your email address, you’ll have an opportunity to volunteer (To add your OWN family information), then one of our Greeters will be happy to confirm your membership, and you’ll be on your way!

When site is busy please be patient waiting for Greeter

NOTE- adding Info is limited until you Volunteer and become a FULL member.(FREE)

Welcome to the family! Glad you joined us

Greeter – Derek (Northern Ireland)
