LCDR Charles Morgan Anthony was born on 3 Jul 1834 in Dartmouth, Massachusetts to Humphrey and Phebe (Smith) Anthony. He married Angeline Swift on 5 Sep 1860 in Mansfield, Massachusetts[1]. After Angeline's death, he married Florence L. Norton in 1878[2]. Charles died on 08 Nov 1885 in Portsmouth, New Hampshire[3].
LCDR Anthony served fifteen years in the merchant navy, and he was appointed to the Union Navy on December 29, 1863. He served on the USS Agawam, and continued his naval service after the war, rising to the rank of Lieutenant Commander and retiring in 1883.
