DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with William by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with William:

I am curious to know which is correct on your Bio posted above: "William was born 7d 7m 1736 [7 Sep 1736].[1]". Should the bracketed date be Jul.?

Hi Fred. The English speaking world used the Julian calendar up until 1752. In that system, the first day of the year was the 25th day of March, making March the first month of the year. As a result, prior to 1752, the numbers of the calendar months are off by two compared the current Gregorian system. As a result, 7d 7m 1736 is 7 Sep 1736. Here are a couple of good resources on the topic:

When writing profiles, I like to enter the Quaker date and put the date used by non-Quakers in brackets. Otherwise it can be tough to tell if someone got the original month conversion correct.
