Biography

Belle (Antle) Smith has Irish ancestors.

The daughter of Linzey Antle and Rachel Wyatt, Lula Belle Antle was born on 3 Nov 1885 in Homer Township, Morgan County, Ohio, United States. ^[1] As evidenced by several historical documents, she went by "Belle".

Belle died on 22 May 1942 and is buried in Glouster, Athens County, Ohio, USA in Maplewood Cemetery as well as her three children and their families. ^[2]

Marriages and Children

(1) George Mason, m.17 Sept 1904 in Morgan County, Ohio; ^[3] divorced after 5 May 1910 but before Jan 1920 (enumeration dates of the 1910 and 1920 U.S. Federal Census, respectively). It is presumed Lula and George were separated by May 1910 as Lula and her youngest son Paul were living with her parents Linzey and Hulda Antle at the time of the 1910 Census. ^[4] While presumed their other two children, Clyde and Marie, were living with George in 1910, it is not certain. A 1910 Census for George has not been located.

Belle and George had three children:

3. Paul Mason

(2) James W. Smith, m. before Jan 1920 ^[5]. According to the 1930 Federal Census, Belle's mother Hulda Antle was living with Lula and James. ^[6]
