Biography

State News. Dr. Milton Anthony, of Rockdale, died suddenly at his home, of heart disease. Brenham Daily Banner. (Brenham, Tex.), Vol. 10, No. 28, Ed. 1 Sunday, February 1, 1885 Page: 2 of 4 . . . His father died in 1839 in the yellow fever epidemic in Augusta, Georgia, leaving scholarships for each of his sons to attend the Medical College of Georgia, which he had founded . . . after taking a literary course in Mercer University, then at Penfield, Milton, Jr. graduated in medicine at the Georgia Medical College in 1845 . . . and from that date until 1859 practiced that profession in Burke County, Georgia . . . Milton, Jr. married Margaret Davis, his 1st cousin once removed, on 6th February 1849, in Morgan County, Georgia . . . they were living in Brazoria County, Texas by 1859 . . . and spent the years of the war between the states in that area . . . according to his widow's Confederate Pension Application (approved in 1909), Dr. Antony served in Capt. Louis Strobles Company in Col. Bates regiment at Velasco, Texas . . . and was appointed Post Surgeon at Columbia, Texas . . . his life was devoted to the practice of medicine, in which he met with reasonable financial success and did a vast amount of good for his fellow man, being accounted among his neighbors and associates in the profession an excellent physician . . .
