Biography

John was born on 27 April 1893 in Falmouth, Kentucky[1]. He was the eldest son of Ferd Bratcher Antrobus and Susan Josephene (Schulker) Antrobus.

John was raised in Falmouth, along with his siblings. [2][3]. His younger brother Ferril died when John was 17, and his father died when he was 21. In 1918, John registered for the draft, noting that he was the source of support for his mother[4].

He was ordered to report for duty to Camp Zachary Taylor on 12 Mar 1918. He served with Headquarters Company of the 335th Infantry and sailed to France in September of that year. [5]. He was later transferred to Company K of the 310th Infantry and was discharged on 3 Jun 1919[6].

Records for John in 1920 have not been located, but by 1930, John (age 36) was living in Falmouth, Pendleton, Kentucky with his mother, brother, sister and nieces and nephews. .[7], He never married and lived with his family[8].

John worked as a telephone lineman. At the age of 55, he fell from a telephone pole and died of a brain injury several days later on 22 August 1948 at St Elizabeth Hospital in Covington, Kentucky. [9][10]. He was laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery in Falmouth, and his grave was marked with a military marker[11][12]
