The mortgages were assigned by Thomas and Morris Hughes, who was described as "son and heir of Hugh Morris, late of Llanarmon Dyffrin Ceiriog, deceased," to Sir Richard Myddelton Bt of Chirk Castle.[3]

Research Notes
The article "Hughes family of Llangadwaladr, Llansilin and Llanarmon D.C.," (1908)[10][11] states that:
- His parents were "Hugh Morris" and "Catherine, daughter of Owen ap John of Scrwgan in Llangedwyn". His father appears o be correct, but his mother's name has not been confirmed.
- He married "Alice, daughter of John Lewis, of Bodvach". Alice was the daughter of John Lewis (d. 1694), gent, of Lledrod, Montgomeryshire. Bodfach is near Lledrod in Montomeryshire (now Powys).
- He had two sons, "Thomas Hughes of Llansilin" and "Richard Hughes of Sarphle, Llanarmon". His son Richard (b. 1702) appears to be born too early to be Richard Hughes of Sarffle, Llanarmon Dyffryn Ceiriog, who was born about 1719.
