Nana tha thtith was born about 1839 and was a Bedonkohe Apache. Nana-Tha-Thtith became Geronimo’s third wife. She was killed by Mexican soldiers in 1861. Geronimo was recovering from a gunshot wound when the renegade troops rushed into his camp. He had little time to arm himself before the troops descended upon him and members of his tribe. Even with his injury, he managed to kill many soldiers, but it came too late to save Nana-Tha-Thtith and the child she had. No mention is made in Geronimo’s autobiography that the child belonged to him. Speculation is that her husband had died in a previous battle and Geronimo assumed the role of father. Her burial is unknown.[1]
Geronimo now had two wives, Chee-hash-kish and Nana-tha-thtith. Chee-hash-kish was the mother of Chappo, a son, and Dohn-say, a daughter. Nana-tha-thtith was the mother of a third child. Geronimo's second wife and her child were killed by Mexican troops. Since he already had a deep hatred for the Mexicans, this only increased his fervor against them.[2]
Geronimo married Chee-hash-kish and had two children, Chappo and Dohn-say. Then he took another wife, Nana-tha-thtith, with whom he had one child.[76] He later had a wife named Zi-yeh at the same time as another wife, She-gha, one named Shtsha-she and later a wife named Ih-tedda. Geronimo's ninth and last wife was Azul.[3]
Nana-tha-thtith was the 3rd wife of Geronimo. He married her shortly after Cheehashkish. Geronimo was married to Chee-hash-kish and Nana-tha-thtith at the same time.[4]
