Biography

• Priscilla Aplin, born in 1788 Otterton, daughter of George Aplin (Apling) and Elizabeth Towning. Priscilla was christened in Harpford, Devon on 6 January 1791.

• Priscilla married James Stone in Otterton Parish in April 1810. She then moved to East Budleigh, the parish just across the river.

• in the 1841 and 1851 census the family was living in Aylesbeare parish - between Ottery St Mary and Budleigh Salterton parishes in East Devon.

• The 1861 census is confusing. It says that Priscilla is the head of the family - which is correct. It says that Ann Stone is her wife. Ann was actually Priscilla's daughter. She did not get married and leave home until 1864. The grandson Noah Knowles was the son of Priscilla Stones daughter, also called Priscilla, who married Charles Knowles in 1842. Noah was born in 1848, which matches his age of 13 in 1861.

• Priscilla never showed up on any other census records. There is a death record for Priscilla Stone in 1865.
