Gotfried was born after 1801. Gotfried Aplin ... He passed away after 1883.
Godfrey was the son of Oliver and Elizabeth Gilbert Aplin. Elizabeth and her daughter Rebecca Aplin are buried in Rinard Mills Cemetery, Noble County, Ohio, near the Washington County line. It is possible that Oliver is there, also. Oliver had been a founder of the Ohio Riverside Grandview community, purchasing one of the first new federal land offerings there in 1825. That also is about when the Taylors of his daughter-in-law came to the area, just downstream, as well.
Godfrey as second husband of Lavina Taylor Hening Aplin had eight children with her: Rebecca, Richard, Joseph, Minerva (Bell - brother of Joseph's wife), Phoebe (Webster), Elizabeth (Pole), Mary C. (Cobb, Dailey), and Oliver Jr. Godfrey also had a stepson, William Henning, from Lavina's first marriage.
First the couple lived in Ludlow Township of Washington County, but then moved to the county seat of Marietta, in its Harmar community on the west side of the Muskingum River.
After the 1880 census, which incorrectly labels him as Appleton, the then-elderly couple moved to northwest Ohio, with or joining their children (daughter Phoebe lived with them in 1880, son Oliver lived in Michigan just over the Ohio border).
It is not yet clear where Godfrey is buried, or when after 1880 he died.
