Biography

Born in Manhattan, NYC and lived there all my life except for a year and a half in San Diego while in the Navy 1969-70. I lived in the building above my grandfather's store until I was 6. He sold men's work clothes. The street was paved with cobblestones; there were pushcarts and we had an icebox that needed a delivery of a big block of ice twice a week. Went to PS 26, Jamaica High School and then NYU University College of Arts and sciences. Went on to get an MD degree at NYU School of Medicine. Trained as a Neurologist at NYU-Bellevue Hospital. Discharged from the US Navy as a conscientious objector. Went on to work as a neurologist in community clinics, Bellevue Hospital, Manhattan Psychiatric Center and the NYC Correctional system including Rikers Island. I last worked for a doctors' union, Doctors Council, SEIU. Have a son with two grandchildren from my first marriage to Naomi Tartus and have a son (one grandson) and daughter with present wife Angela Fremont. We still live in Manhattan in the East Village. Now retired.

Hello again,

This week we have your last stop on the guided tour.

Hopefully, you're feeling like a WikiTree pro! If not, you can always revisit the tour stops via the comment boxes on the right side of your profile.

You've covered a lot of ground the past few weeks. Today, we want to give you just a few more tools that can take you even deeper into the WikiTree forest without getting lost: How to Dig a Little Deeper.

Feel free to message me if you have questions,

Susie - Wikitree Messenger :-)

Hi,

You may have been hard at work getting connected to family members who are already here and adding those who were missing. You probably have at least a few profiles that you manage now.

There's a fast and easy way to access those profiles using the Watchlist. So, this week we're going to look at How to Manage Your Watchlist.

Please let one of us know if you have questions! Just click my name above the comment, then ask in the comment section of my page. We want to help!

Susie - Wikitree Messenger :-)

Hi Harold,

Not a problem, we all have those kind of learning curves. Glad you found your GEDCOM!

You're probably getting a good feel for the collaborative nature of WikiTree by now. We know that collaboration isn't always easy. So, we've put together a few pointers that can make working in this type of environment a little easier: How to be a Successful WikiTreer.

Have more questions? We want to help! Click the name above any of your comments, then ask in the comment section of that volunteer's page.

Definite newbie, I am. Never realized that my GEDCOM report was ready so I haven't done anything so far because my tree stays empty. Please excuse the stupid messages I may have sent asking why my tree was still empty. I think I understand and will get to work on my report. Thanks for everyone's help.

Hi Β–

I'm a member of the Mentor project, and I just wanted to check in and see how things are going. Do you have any questions I can help you with?

Shirley

Hope that helps.

Our GEDCOM process is a bit different than what might be used to on other sites. We have some great help pages to make your experience go more smoothly:

If you have any questions about your GEDCOM or our process, you can contact our GEDCOM Manager for assistance.

Thanks!

I wanted to suggest that you edit your tag(s) to show any surnames you are researching. When you list a surname, location or historical event in your tags, you can then click them and see a list of other WikiTree genealogists who are also researching those names, locations, etc.

You'll also get notifications in your daily & weekly emails when there is activity relevant to your tags.

Please let me know if you have any questions! :-)
