Birth

Alvis Leonard Applebury was born on 21 April 1920 in Carroll County, Missouri, USA to Gifford Applebury and Edna Daugherty.

Military Service

On 14 August 1942 he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps as a Private. On 31 October he was in the Aircraft Engineering Squadron Twenty-three, AIRBG-2, NAS, San Diego, California. In April 1943 Corporal Applebury was in Headquarters Squadron 23, MARAIRG-23, Marfair, Wc, MCAS, El Toro, California. By July 1944 he was a Technical Sergeant and had shipped out with Headquarters Squadron 23.

Marriage

On 27 March 1945 he married Effie Susan Zeisler (1920-2015).

Death and Burial

Alvis died on 25 March 2001 in Chillicothe, Livingston, Missouri, USA at the age of 80. He was buried in Braden Cemetery, Coloma, Carroll, Missouri. Plot: Row 1, Stone 3. Find A Grave: Memorial #26509002
