Eliza was born in 1826. She is the daughter of Cowton Appleby and Mary Marshall. She was christened on 25 Dec 1826 in Winster, Derbyshire, England.[1] at the same time as her brother Stephen Cowton Appleby.
Eliza Christiana Appleby married Charles Swift in 1854 and their marriage was registered in Sheffield, Yorkshire, England.[2]
She died in 1885 at the age of 58[3] and was buried in St Giles, Matlock, Derbyshire, England.[4]

Research Notes
Her married name in 1864 was Swift. It was mentioned in connection with a claim for damages made by her and her siblings after the death of their mother in The Great Sheffield Flood.[10]
