Hi

The GEDCOM will not automatically populate your tree, it generates a GEDCOMpare report which you work through either accepting or rejecting suggested matches. Once you have done this the data from your file will be filled in on the add profile screen so that you can review and make adjustments before saving.

One of our mentors created a tutorial for the GEDCOMpare process that I found very helpful. I hope that you will too.

If you have any questions about how WikiTree works, let us know by using the "reply" link under our comments or by clicking our names to visit our profiles. From there you can leave a comment or send a private message.

Take care

Hi John

It has been a couple of weeks since we contacted you about your participation in the Canada and as we haven't heard from you, we are following up to make sure you wish to remain a member.

We understand that interests shift as we grow our shared tree and that some members may have moved on to projects more pertinent to the branches they are currently building. If this is the case for you, please let us know.

If we do not hear back from you within the week, we will assume you have moved on to other things for the moment and remove you from the project. Please know that you will always be welcome to rejoin should your interests shift back in this direction.

Thank you so much for your participation; we genuinely appreciate it.

Why did you remove Clarke-3048 from his mother?
Hi John....regarding your comments regarding Richard Clark: there appears to be a great deal of misinformation floating around regarding his origins, but this paragraph from Charles Carrol Gardner, NJ. genealogist is rather definitive on the Mayflower question. Charles Carroll Gardner, in Genealogical Collections 1665-1800, Vol. 29, CLARK, writes: "Richard Clarke the founder of the Elizabethtown Clark family and great-grandfather of Hon. Abraham Clark, signer of the Declaration of Independence, is first found at Southampton, L.I., in 1661. It has been stated that Richard Clarke was a grandson of the thirty-sixth signer of the Mayflower Compact, who bore the same name. This statement is absolutely incorrect. Bradford's "History of the Plymouth Plantation", a contemporary work, tells us plainly enough that Richard Clarke of the Mayflower died soon after the arrival at Plymouth, without issue. This fact is stated in two different places in Bradford's work, and can be relied upon as absolutely correct.

Hello, thank you so much for your message and help with the Stainbrook and Kightlinger families. I will check and then add the Whitney name to Nancy Agnes Kightlinger. Eliza Stainbrook is my great-great-grandmother. I see we are sixth cousins.
John, I'm glad to see your interest in New Netherland. You'll get better results here if you change your followed tag to new_netherland (get rid of the "s"). Also, on your profile, where you have New Netherlands Descendant inside doubled {} brackets), change the text string to New Netherland Descendant Sticker and you'll get a nice sticker instead of an ugly red link.
