Biography

Hamilton was born about 1844 January fourth in Ohio to George Applegate and his wife, Margaret McClusky. His siblings are Alice, Caroline, Francis M, William M, Nelson B, Hazelton, John ^[1], and James L ^[2].

Hamilton served as a private in Company F of the 44th Regiment of Iowa Infantry during the War of the Rebellion ^[3] Hamilton enlisted 1864 May twenty-third for 100 days. He mustered in 1864 June first as a private in Company F of th 44th Iowa Infantry. He mustered out 1864 September fifteenth at Davenport, Iowa.

Hamilton was married 1901 September eighteenth in Magnoketa, Jackson County, Iowa, to Sarah M McTier. ^[4] Their union ended in divorce.
