Biography

Sarah was born in Deerfield Township in Morgan County Ohio in 1849 to Jesse and Beulah (Pettit) Appleman. Her mother died when she was young and her father remarried. The family moved to Wisconsin, where Sarah married William Wakeman in 1868. Sarah was the mother of two children, William and Mary. Sarah died at the age of 25 years. She was interred at Bloomingdale Cemetery in Vernon County Wisconsin.

• On the 1850 census, she is listed as Susan, but all other records have Sarah
• Birth date is calculated from newspaper announcement giving death date and age as 25 years 1 month and 23 days.
