Death
Death: Nancy has not been found in VA after the 1850 Census, when she was head of household. Son James Joseph McAllister (Jr) was living with her in Isle of Wight with a pretty good plantation to run (28 slaves).
Residence: Nancy Ann Applewhite at this time had married James Joseph McAllister, and he had gone on or passed on, leaving Nancy with 28 slaves to run her "plantation".
Residence: In 1840 Nancy Ann (McCoolester) McAllister was the head of household, was between 40 & 49 years old, and had 18 slaves and two free black persons caring for her plantation.
Date: 1840
Place: Isle of Wight, Virginia, United States
Residence: Nancy Applewhite was also living in Isle of Wight County, enumerated by the same man as Nancy McCollester, who I believe to be McAllister.
Place: Eastern District, Isle of Wight, Virginia[18]
Marriage
Marriage: This 1817 Isle of Wight marriage was between one Joseph McAllister and Ann Applewaite. May be James Joseph and Nancy Ann using their middle names, or not them at all.
Marriage: This 1814 marriage in nearby Southampton, VA, was between Nancy Applewhite and Thomas Clifton. I have not yet researched Thomas to see if a) he died and she remarried James or Joseph, or b) she is an entirely different Nancy.
