Charles Oscar Appling was born on 27 Feb 1893 at Kingsbury, Texas, USA.[1] He appeared on the census of 13 June 1900 in the household of his parents, Charles Burwell Appling and Sallie Dromgoole, at Justice Precinct 7, Guadalupe Co., Texas.[2] He appeared on the census of 16 May 1910 in the household of his parents at 7 J-Pct, Guadalupe Co., Texas.[3] Charles served in WWI in the 79th Field Artillery Regiment, United States Army, World War I.[4] He appeared on the census of 9 Jan. 1920 in the household of his parents at Kingsbury, Guadalupe Co., Texas.[5] He appeared on the census of 12 April 1930 in the household of his parents at Precinct 7, Guadalupe Co., Texas.[6] He appeared on the census of 23 May 1940 in the household of his parents at Guadalupe County, Texas. [7]
He was a rancher in 1951 at Guadalupe Co., Texas. Charles died on 5 Nov. 1951 near Kingsbury, Guadalupe Co., Texas, at age 58, he was single. He was buried at Appling Cemetery, Guadalupe Co., Texas.[8] His memorial has a photo of his headstone with the inscription "Our precious Mannie BAT C 79th Field Artillery WWI" and an American Legion marker.[4]
