Royden was born in 1885. He was the son of Robert Arbuckle and Sarah Fell.
His mother passed away in 1886.
Royden married Ivy Mary Varty on 2 December 1907 in Pietermaritzburg, Natal, South Africa. His occupation was recorded as Civil Servant[1].

He passed away in 1964 at the age of about 79[2]. Cause of death was recorded as Coronary Thrombosis, Atherosclerosis (with Angina) and Generalised Arteriosclerosis.
