Thomas born in 1855 (en route to Australia on the ship Conrad). He was the son of James Arbuthnot and Margaret Rose Johnson. He is listed in the NSW BDM as having been born 2 January 1856 at Tenterfield, New South Wales, Australia (Registration: V18564643 42B/1856 originally registered as Erbuthnot) but this is probably the date his birth was registered.[1]
