At the age of 25 he married 26 year old Isabel Edith Davey (the eldest child of Osborn Hugh Cogden Davey and Isabella Margaritha Marais) on 7 November 1906 at Pilgrim's Rest, Lydenburg.[1]

They went on to have six children.
William was a Labour Recruiter; he passed away at the age of 68 on 5 January 1950 at his home 'Wedderburn', Umzinto, Natal.[2]

It appears that he was cremated in Stellawood Cemetery, Durban, and commemorated by a plaque in St Patrick's Anglican Church Cemetery, Umzinto, Natal:[3][4]
