George, born October 16, 1897, [1] Emigrated to Canada at the age of 14, sent by the Church of England Waifs & Strays, to the Gibb' Home, Sherbrooke, Quebec.[2] He was working as a laborer in Quebec when he signed up for the Canadian Expeditionary Force in 1915.[3]
