Biography

George was born in 1846. He was the son of George Arbuthnot and Caroline Hay.

Christening Date: 23 June 1846
Christening Place: Lasswade, Midlothian, Scotland[1]

In 1851 he was recorded with his family in Dingle Lane, Toxteth Park Extra Parochial, Lancashire, England. Aged 4.

Scotland Census Event Date 1861: Living with his parents, three siblings and 12 other individuals. Aged 14 and a Scholar.

He graduated from Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England with a Master of Arts (M.A.). He graduated with a Doctor of Divinity (D.D.). One of Dr Vaughan's "doves" at the Temple.

George married Margaret Evelyn Luckock (daughter of Very Rev. Herbert Mortimer Luckock and Margaret Emma Thompson), on 19 November 1885 at South Kensington, London, England. Margaret was 20 years his junior.[2]

They had no children.

He was the Vicar in 1873 at Arundel, Sussex, England and was the Vicar in 1879 at Stratford-on-Avon, Warwickshire, England.

UK Census Event Date 1891: Living with his wife and six servants in Stratford on Avon, Warwickshire, England. Aged 44.

Occupation: Vicar Of Stratford On Avon

He held the office of Archdeacon of Coventry between 1908 and 1922.

George died in 1922 at the age of 76. [3]
