James died in Hubbell, Nebraska on 5 August 1889 and was buried in the Lutheran church cemetery.

Marriages 1871–1920 list Sarah Jane's and Samuel's marriage has being in Cook, Illinois whereas Kittybrewster.com suggests it was in Pine Township, PA.
