Biography

Stephen Arbuthnot is an Anzac who served in World War One.

Stephen John Arbuthnot was born on 21st August 1894 in Victoria, Australia. He was the only son of Michael Arbuthnot and Annie Redfern.[1]

On 1st December 1914, he enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force during The Great War.[2] He was a trooper in the 8th Australian Light Horse Regiment, 3rd Brigade, Australian Mounted Division.[3]

Trooper Stephen Arbuthnot was Killed in Action at Gallipoli during The Great War.

Stephen paid the ultimate price for our freedom, when he was killed in action at Lone Pine, Gallipoli on 7th August 1915. His memorial is at Lone Pine Memorial, Gallipoli Peninsula, Canakkale Province, Turkey. His name is located at panel 6 in the Commemorative Area at the Australian War Memorial, Canberra. His name is also listed on the memorial at Bonnie Doon, Victoria.[4]
