Died in Military ServiceRichard was born in 1911. He was the only son of Richard Alexander Arbuthnott and Mary Mackie.
When he was only a year old he emigrated from Scotland to New Zealand with his parents and sister Christina. He is listed as a passenger on the Tainui which arrived in Wellington from its last port Sydney on 24 January 1912. They were bound for Lyttelton in Canterbury.[1]
He enlisted in the 2nd World War:
Richard died in New Zealand on the 30th October 1942 aged 31 and was buried in the Balclutha Cemetery - Grave a412.[2]
