Death notice: [1]The Argus (Melbourne, Vic. : 1848 - 1957) Tue 13 Jan 1925 - ARCHBOLD.—On the 11th January, at Sister Pentland's private hospital, Traralgon, George Archbold, dearly beloved husband of Janet, and father of George and the late Agnes and May, aged 81 years, late of Tyers.
Obituary: [2]Traralgon Record (Traralgon, Vic. : 1886 - 1932) Tue 13 Jan 1925 - DEATH OF MR G. ARCHBOLD. We regret to announce the death of Mr George Archbold, senr, of Tyers, which took place on Friday night. Deceased underwent an operation on Saturday, which was successful, and he was quite merry and bright on Saturday night, but was taken ill on Sunday and passed peacefully away. Deceased was 81 years of age. The late Mr Archbold was one of the oldest residents of Tyers, and one who was most highly esteemed by all sections of the community. He was what may be termed one of God's good men and for many years was associated with the Church and Sunday School at Tyers. Living up to his profession, deceased set a worthy example to others, and many friends will regret his death. The sympathy of all will be extended to his family and relatives of deceased in their bereavement. The funeral will leave deceased's late residence, Tyers, at 2 pm. this (Tuesday) afternoon.
Tyers is a small town in Victoria, Australia. It is 158 kilometres east of Melbourne, 10 kilometres north-west of Traralgon and located in the City of Latrobe. It was known until 1852 as "Boola Boola", after which it was named after the surveyor and explorer Charles Tyers.

Mary Archbold travelling with her son, George, from Liverpool England to Melbourne, Australia died on August 25, 1857 during their voyage. Also travelling with them were George's brother Jeremiah (13) and John (9) as well as their sister Sarah aged 3.
