Biography

Montie Eva Archer was born on 7 October 1907 in Eastland, Texas to Thomas Archer and Martha Thompson. She married Brooks Duran Appleton on 10 October 1924 in Taylor County, Texas[1] Eva died of labor-related complications one week after giving birth to her only child.[2][3] She was 24 years old and a homemaker.[4] Eva is buried at Buffalo Gap Cemetery in Buffalo Gap, Texas.[5]

1920: Eva M Archer is enumerated as Daughter of Head of Household in Justice Precinct 7, Eastland, Texas. She is 13 years old and lives with her parents and older brother. The family lives in a rented home that is designated as a farm. She attends school and can read and write.[7]
1930: Eva M Appleton is enumerated as Sister-in-Law of Head of Household in Precinct 2, Taylor, Texas. She is 23 years old and lives with her husband, brother- and sister-in-law, and their 2 sons. The house is rented and designated as a farm; the family does not own a radio. She was 17 years old when she first married.[8]

Rites for Mrs. B. D. Appleton to Be Held at Buffalo Gap Today
Mrs. Eva Archer Appleton, 24, wife of of B. D. Appieton, young Wylie farmer, died at a local sanitarium at 6:45 o'clock last night. She leaves an infant son, born in the sanitarium one week ago.
Funeral rites are to be held at the Nazarene church of Buffalo Gap, this afternoon at 3 o'clock, with the Rev. V. B. Atteberry, local Nazarene pastor, officiating. He will be assisted by the Rev. H. B. White, Nazarene church evangelist, who is conducting a meeting in the Eula community.
Eva Archer was bom in Eastland county and resided there until 1922, when she moved to Buffalo Gap with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. P. Archer, who live in that community. She was married to Mr. Appleton six years ago. She was a member of the Nazarene church at Buffalo Gap.
Besides her husband, infant son, Carlos Wayne, and her three brothers, Lon Archer of Buffalo Gap, C. L. Archer of Amherst, Port Archer of Cisco; two sisters, Mrs. Harve Pyles of Abernathy, Mrs. J. F. Culwell of Goldthwaite, and a half-sister, Mrs. J. L. Morgan of Hereford.
The Laughter Undertaking company has charge of funeral arrangements.[10]
