Biography

Richard Archer was born about 1820 in Thorpe Mandeville, Northamptonshire, England to Richard Archer and Martha (Adkins) Archer.

In 1841 Richard Archer (age 21) lived in Aston le Walls, Northamptonshire with his father Richard (55), brother John (24), uncle George (50), aunt Margret (52), two cousins: Margret (23) and Benjamin (20), and two servants: John Quinney (28) and Hanah Giles (17).^[1]

In 1851 Richard Archer (age 31, Farmer Labourer) lived in Bourton Oxfordshire with House Keeper Elizabeth Busley (28).^[2]

Richard Archer married the widow Elizabeth (Tomkins) Williams in 1855. The marriage was registered in Banbury, Oxfordshire in the first quarter of the year.^[3]

In 1861 Richard Archer (age 41, Farmer of 430 Acres Employing 2 Men 1 Boy) lived in Bourton with his wife Elizabeth (37, Farmer Wife), nephew K (2), and servant Emma Smith (13, House Servant).^[4]

Personal Estate £1,346 12s. 4d."^[7]
