In 1851 Richard Archer (age 31, Farmer Labourer) lived in Bourton Oxfordshire with House Keeper Elizabeth Busley (28).[2]
Richard Archer married the widow Elizabeth (Tomkins) Williams in 1855. The marriage was registered in Banbury, Oxfordshire in the first quarter of the year.[3]
In 1861 Richard Archer (age 41, Farmer of 430 Acres Employing 2 Men 1 Boy) lived in Bourton with his wife Elizabeth (37, Farmer Wife), nephew K (2), and servant Emma Smith (13, House Servant).[4]
In 1871 Richard Archer (age 51, Landowner) lived in Bourton with his wife Elizabeth (47) and servant Sarah A Batchelor (24, Domestic Servant).[5]
In 1881 Richard Archer (age 61, Farmer (43 Ac Emp 2 M 1 B) lived in Bourton with his wife Elizabeth (57), niece Mercy P Tomkins (17, Student), cousin Arthur J Archer (4), and servant Emma Tucker (18, Gen Serv).[6]
Richard was an Executor of his brother John's estate in 1881: "The Will with a Codicil of John Archer late of Little Bourton in the County of Oxford Farmer and Road Surveyor who died 26 July 1881 at Little Bourton was proved at the Principal Registry by Richard Archer of Little Bourton Farmer and Road Surveyor the Brother and James Adkins of Greatworth in the County of Northampton Farmer the Executors. Personal Estate £1,346 12s. 4d."[7]
In 1891 Richard Archer (age 71, Highway Surveyor & Farmer) lived in Bourton with his wife Elizabeth (67) and two servants: Ruth Wade (19, Domestic Servant General) and Frederick Haynes (15, Groom).[8]
Richard's wife Elizabeth Archer passed away in 1891.
Richard Archer passed away on 13 Jan 1900, aged 80 years. His death was registered in Banbury in the first quarter of the year.[9]
"ARCHER Richard of Little Bourton Oxfordshire gentleman died 13 January 1900 Probate Oxford 26 April to John Carpenter and James Jones farmers and Mercy Pearson Hollier (wife of William Amos Chinner Hollier) Effects £5791 9s. 3d. Resworn December 1900 £5872 17s."[10]
