DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with William by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with William:
Archer-6813 and Archer-5014 appear to represent the same person because: -6813 is unsourced. Previously attached parents were detached per comment. Birth date is very close. Death date and place are the same.
Note the parents have two sons name William attached. Appears the parents should be detached from this profile, and this profile merged into William Archer (1740-1807).
So, there appear to possibly be two families in the same time period with the same/similar names and in the same area. One has ties to England and North Carolina although I can't find the time to pin down which is which. What is also troublesome is that there is also a reference found in Barbados to William and Martha Archer with a young son, Israel, who was baptized there. The family had apparently moved there from England. Could these all be the same people? What is missing is an affirmative link to the three. Also, I do not have family lore or any stories that go back that far. If we could find a ship passenger list or another solid link to consolidate then merging would be justified. Unfortunately, I can't figure it out with the information I have found to this point and should rely on more experienced researchers.
Archer-6813 and Archer-5014 are not ready to be merged because: -6813 is unsourced. Previously connected parents were disconnected as unsourced. Profile matches -5015 with close birth date, and same death date and place.
Is this correct, or not? I don't want to suggest that this William Archer be merged with Archer-6813, if not correct. But, I don't want to remove the Obadiah Archer-6812 from the other William IF he is attached to the correct father/grandparents.
Per my research--Obadiah is the son of William (1740-1807) and Martha MNU. Many think her maiden name is Whiskard, but it is not. My records showed this William is the son of William (1698-1750) and Anne Royall (1700-1785) who is the daughter of Joseph Royall (1676-1747) and Elizabeth Kennon (1679-1751). Per my records, Anne Kennon should be Anne Royal. However, there is much argument over this and I know that a while back, William Archer (Archer-1729) and Anne Kennon Royall Archer (Royall-192) were detached as parents of William.
After consulting Profile Manager, I have detached William Archer (Archer-1729) and Anne Kennon Royall Archer (Royall-192) as parents of this William Archer. Their son is most likely Col. William Archer (Archer-1728). As yet, no alternatives as parents have come to light.
If this William Archer, whom the paper trail tells me is my 5th Great-grandfather, is likely not the son of William Archer and Anne Kennon (Royall) Archer, is there a reason why he is still attached to them? And are there any leads on who his "real" parents might be? I have come up dry on that search, and every genealogy resource shows the William Archer-Ann Royall connection, still. This is somewhat like a brick wall situation for me, and I'd appreciate any help you might be able to give.
