In 1861 he was age 50 and living with his wife and five children in Harpenden. His occupation was Cordwainer.
In 1871 he was age 60 and living in Harpenden with his wife, son Henry and niece Mary Archer age 14. He was a Master Bootmaker employing two men.
He lived and died at Vine Cottage Cravell's Rd Harpenden.
He is buried in St Nicholas Churchyard, Harpenden with his wife.
His son Henry and son in law John Willis were appointed Executors of his estate.
