Biography

Born at blacksmith's croft Avochie near Huntly Aberdeenshire. Trained as draper at Huntly. later worked in Glasgow where he met his wife to be Worked as commercial traveller in South Africa . returned to Scotland to marry . Lived in Arbroath until enlisted in Medical Corps at outbreak of ww one. Drapery/insurance business near Arbroath then sold and family moved in with wife's parents in Gorbals Glasgow Worked as stores clerk in hospitals in Glasgow and near Edinburgh treating war casualties Lived in Musselburgh until he retired when the family moved to Wanstead London where they shared a home with his sister Elisabeth Ellison and her husband Joseph

In 1891 he was 10 living with his parents and siblings in Huntly, Aberdeenshire, Scotland^[1]
