ARDILL. - July 3, 1942, George Leslie, son of the late William Ardill and step-son of Lily A. Ardill, and brother of Wllliam E., Darcy, Roy and Dudley.

MR. G. L. ARDILL DEAD

Mr. George Leslie Ardill, acting chief assistant in the Bureau of Statistics and Economics of New South Wales, has died after a short illness at the age of 61 years.

Mr. Ardill had completed 44 years in the Public Service, including 34 years in the Bureau of Statistics and Economics. For many years he was prominently associated with the National Riflemen's Association and in recent years, he was one of the most successful breeders of show poultry.

Mr. Ardill contributed much to the improvement of the statistical system of the State. He is survived by his wife, two sons and two daughters.

Mr. Ardill was at ons time one of the best known rifle shots in Australla. He went to Bisley and Canada in 1907, and was for many years captain of the Parramatta Rifle Club. Mr. Ardill joined the Public Service as a schoolteacher in 1896, transferred to the Taxation Department, and was later aopolnted to the Statistician's Office.
