Biography

Eli was born in 1872 in Huxley in Palestine township, Story County, Iowa, USA, the daughter of Tjærand Trondsen Arnevik and [[Øvrebø-59|Siri Tollaksdatter Øvrebø]. Her parents and older siblings had immigrated to Iowa from Norway five years earlier. Her father Tjærand americanized his name to Charles, her mother adopted Sarah, and the family took the surname Arendts (also spelled as Arntz, Arndts). Eli lived only four months, dying in 1873. She is probably buried at the Fjeldberg Cemetery in Huxley.
