Biography
Catharina Maria Arens was born November 19, 1854 in Landenbeck, Eslohe, Westfalen, Germany[1][2]. Her parents were Johann Arens and Elisabeth Schauerte. She married Anton Mertens in 1881 in Schoenholtausen, Wesfalen, Germany[3]. She died February 5, 1895 in Staples, Todd, Minnesota. She is buried in the Evergreen Hill Cemetery in Staples, Wadena, Minnesota.[4]
- Heribert Stirnberg made a mistake on his research. The baptismal record clearly shows she was born November 19, 1854, baptised the 20th. Her name on this record is "Catherina".
