Biography

Melvin was born in 1918. He was the son of Oscar Arey and Olethea Showalter. His birth name was Herbert M. Arey, and living in his parents household in Rockingham County, Virginia, in the 1920 census. ^[1] When his mother passed away when he was just under 2 years old, he was adopted by Charles Miller and Bessie Anderson. In 1938 he married Hilda Baker. ^[2] Melvin passed away in 2013. There is a very informative obituary on Find A Grave that describes his very active and productive life. ^{[3] [4]}
