CENSUS INFORMATION: In the 1861 UK Census, she is listed Emma Louisa ARGALL, born in St Austle aged 7 living in Crown Town, Sithney with her parents, and two brothers. (RG9/1571,Enumeration District 21, Folio 74, Page 5). In the 1871 UK Census, she listed as EMMA F ARGALL, aged 17 and born in St Austell. She is living in Breage, with her parents and 3 brothers. (RG10/2308, Folio 16, Page 24).

DEATH: SALES - At Veryan, May 15th, Emma, wife of Mr Sales (and daughter of Wm. Argall, of Breage), aged 23.

OBITUARY: In the Royal Cornwall Gazette - Friday, 24 May 1878:

ODDS AND ENDS - I have, with much regret, to record the death of Mrs. Walter Sales (née Emma Louise Argall), who died at Veryan on the 15th inst., at the early age of 24 years. About 10 months ago, I noted the marriage at Breage of Miss Argall, only daughter of Mr. William Argall, to Mr. Walter Sales, of Leigh, Kent. She left Breage with her husband for Veryan, and her accouchment was close at hand, when, on the evening of the day named, she was taken suddenly ill, and died almost immediately, although previously in excellent health. Her death is naturally a severe blow to husband and parents, with whom she lived on the most affectionate terms, and it is also much felt by a large circle of friends whom she had won by her amiable and pleasant manner. In Breage and the surrounding districts Miss Argall was a popular favourite as a pianist and singer at rural entertainments, at which she often rendered good services for charitable purposes and in aid of literary, scientific and religious institutions. To quote the words of a well-known writer - "None knew her but to love and respect; none named her but to praise." The only possible consolation for the family and friends is that their loss is her gain.
