Married Emily E. Manwill, 1876. Moved to Lake Shore, 1878. Watermaster, 1879-81. Rebaptized, 1878. Presiding priest and superintendent of settlement's Sunday School, 1880. Married Ann Brown as plural wife, 1883. Ordained seventy, 1884. Ordained bishop and high priest, 1886. Arrested for unlawful cohabitation (u.c.) 1887. Second wife sent to penitentiary for contempt of court. "Adopted" to parents in Logan Temple, c. 1888. Sentenced to penitentiary, 1888-89. Joseph Dover, of the 21st Ward, Salt Lake City, and Lorenzo Argyle, of Lake Shore, Utah, Co., were arrested for u.c. and placed under bonds. In the First District court, at Provo, Lorenzo D. Argyle of Lake Shore, Utah Co., was sentenced by Judge Judd to six months' imprisonment and $150 fine; John W. Gardner, of Pleasant Grove, to five months' imprisonment; Christian Sorensen, of Mt. Pleasant, to 90 days; Wm Beeston, of Fillmore, to four months and $200 fine; Christian Borregaard, of Fillmore, to 60 days and $50 fine; Niels M. Petersen, of Richfield, and David Broadhead to $150 fine each; all for u.c. Ole P. Borg of Richfield, was sentenced to nine months, and John Durrant, of American fork, to 18 months' imprisonment for alleged adultery. Dated entries, September 1891 to May 1920. Daily activities of bishop-funeral sermons, blessings, ordinations, baptisms, organization of ward auxiliary and priesthood groups. Delegate to irrigation congress, 1891. Delegate to Democratic County Convention, 1895. Statehood. Attended "semi-centennial" at Salt Lake City, July 1897. Helped organize state Fish and Game Association, 1897. Election judge, 1898. Federal jury duty, 1899. Attended first solemn assembly held at Salt Lake Temple, July 1899. Director of Benjamin Creamery Company, 1998-1901. Large increase in tithing, 1898-1901. Presided over annual water meeting, 1900. President of Leland Roller Mills. On the Lake and Jordan Dam Commission. Most entries extremely brief. Generally confined to church and civic activities. The Saints who had settled northeast of Payson and northwest of Spanish Fork, Utah County, were organized into two Wards, namely, Benjamin, Andrew J.B. Stewart, Bishop, and Lake Shore, Lorenzo Argyle, Bishop.
