Biography

In 1948 my father took us to Batavia, now Jakarta, when Indonesia was partitioned by the Dutch. The money father had in Bangka was not worth a sou in Batavia. Before leaving when father was incarcerated during the war for independence, we were robbed, luckily the valet had managed to bury a camphor chest with valuables. So my parents used the valuables to survive until father had established himself in Jakarta where he met his closest friend since childhood President Soekarno.

Life growing up being a member of a number royal houses was not easy at that time , I was a lonely child with just an abigail as playmate. School friends were just friends at school only. In 1950 I went to Saint Theresa for 9 years then moved to Saint Ursula. Met Simon in 1972 married him and went to England in 1973 after our son was 10 months old. I did not know when I kissed my mother goodbye it was for the last time, she died the following year .

1985 graduated from the Open University with an ordinary BA. In 1987 acquired honours degree with an award for my dissertation titled ' A comparison with other major engineering projects in order to assess the potential failures of the Channel tunnel ' In 1996 graduated with the degree of Master of Philosophy in Biosystems. Between those years we have lived for Simon work in Manila, Ports Moresby and in 2002 we retired early to Spain but returned to England in preference to living in Spain as we have missed our children and grandchildren

Whilst in Spain I have discovered that I can paint, encouraged by a Dutch friend, particularly portrait painting. I paint now for pleasure.
