Joyce Ariss made the best fried egg sandwiches anywhere. Her venison meatloaf was unrivaled and her deft hand with pie crusts remains a happy mystery to everyone who tried to learn the secret. Her love of growing things and her skills and knowledge as an arborist will be felt throughout her home state of Michigan for generations to come.
Joyce died peacefully on January 2, 2022, after an heroic contest with several cancers. Her memory is celebrated by her sons, Don Walli and Chris Ariss, and her daughter-in-law Gaylin Walli; by her family in fellowship at St Luke’s United Methodist Church; and by her many friends and extended family.
Memorial services will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that native trees be planted in her memory or that donations might go to St. Jude Children’s Hospital (www.stjude.org), the Michigan Animal Rescue League (www.marleague.org), or the Arbor Day Foundation (www.arborday.org).
