Biography

Parentage

Arij Claasz Arkesteijn's patronymic indicates that his father was named Claas Arkesteijn. According to a marriage registration, he was born in Pijnacker.[1] In the period in which Arij was born, there was one Claas Arkesteijn active in Pijnacker. Claas Arij Arkesteijn. He married Trijntje Grabels Brouwer in Maasland in 1722[2] and died in Pijnacker in 1741.[3] Gabe Arkesteijn appears as a witness in the baptism of one of Arij's children.[4] Gabe is then most likely a son of Claas and Trijntje, as Gabe would have been named after his maternal grandfather (see Trijntje's patronymic: Grabel).

This all indicates Arij was most likely a son of Claas Arij Arkesteijn.

Death

Arij Claasz Arkesteijn died in Wassenaar on the 16th of December 1803.[12]
