Stanisław was born in Kafar on 6 August 1889. Kafar was 15 km north of Sulejów on the edge of the forest on the Pilica River. Czar Nicolai moved it to 7 km north of Sulejów. The Russian government planted a forest on the old town site. [1]

Stanisław served in the Russian Army from 1910 to 1913. He went to Germany in 1913, but had to report back to the Russian Army. He was a POW from 1914-1918, and worked in France and Belgium looting factories for Germany. He worked in Łódź in a bakery after the war. [2]
