Biography

Henry was born on March 1,1870 in Prussia, possibly in the area of what is Ukraine now. I believe his mother was Karolina Kottke and that she died in childbirth and that their baby also did not survive. Henry is believed to have immigrated to the US with his father, Conrad Arlt and now wife, Frederika Seiler and sons, Chris and John . He died in Bird Island, Mn. in 1957.

Family lore from Dennis Stark, a Great Grandchild, says Henry was born on the ship on the way to U.S from Germany. Dennis's mother says Henry would send her to the local tavern with a pail to get him some beer.

I, his granddaughter, Frances, remember when they lived in a very small green house in Bird Island on the north side of HWY 212. I would walk there with my Mother, Cecilia and she would give Grandma Matilda her insulin injections. After Grandma died, Henry came to live with us. By then he had dementia. My memories are of a gentle, quiet man who constant companion was my dog Toots. Mom would receive phone calls (2031!) from the far side of town saying " you'd better come pick up Grandpa"...but Toots was always there beside him.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Henry by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Henry:

Thanks Amy!

If I understand correctly you are not related to me...but someone interested in reading and correcting bios if mistakes are found? At any rate, nice to meet you and thanks for pointing this out! Frances(Frankie) Grover

Hi Frances! I'm sorry I didn't know about your message until literally one minute ago so i popped over. I don't know if we are related, but I've specifically been on a Sourcing project for several months. When people's entries have been Orphaned - the original creator leaves WikiTree and there is no one to care for them - anyone who is able to help is allowed to adopt and care for the entries. I'm not interested in reading and correcting Bios, I'm just part of WikiTree, like you, and Mr. Arlt was left Orphaned. I treat everyone like my own beloved family.

I don't remember what I pointed out, I am caring for three disabled adults right now and almost lost my Dad 6 days ago. There were 20 fire fighters, EMSA workers and ... I don't know who else was in my home. Since then I'm focused on keeping my parents alive. If I was in any way rude, it was not intended. I do remember loving reading what you wrote about your family. Grace + peace

AmyLynn
