The Rev. Canon Wheeler performed the ceremony at the marriage on April 21, in All Saints' Church, Geelong (V.), of Sybil May, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. C. Philpott, of Wendron, Aberdeen street, Newtown, Geelong, and Reginald James, only child of Mrs. J. P. Armytage and the late Mr. James Fairbairn Armytage, of 28 Aphrasia street, Newtown, Geelong. The bride chose a lovely scheme of snowflake white and sunset pink for her bridal procession—her own robe being of white windswept satin, with a three-yard train sweeping back in glistening folds, while the misty tulle veil fell from a pleated halo band with a garland of orange blossom (which had been worn by the bride's mother). Against this shimmering whiteness the sunset pink satin frocks and silver halo hats, worn by the two bridesmaids (Miss Rona Philpott and Miss Martha Jones) created a wonderfully spring-like effect. The pretty gowns had their cowl necks caught with brilliant clips, while silver lame lined the epaulette sleeves, and waist sashes and glinted in the silver slippers. Mr. D. C. Philpott gave his daughter away. The best man was Mr. Leslie Simms, and Mr. Bill Fincott was groomsman. Wedding dinner was held at the Victoria Hotel, Geelong. The bride's mother wore a gown of grey crinkle satin and lace, and her small hat was in harmonising tones. The bridegroom's mother (who assisted to receive the guests with Mr. and Mrs. D. C. Philpott) wore a frock of black ring velvet, with sleeves of transparent ninon brocaded with applique velvet leaves. Her hat was of black velours. The ushers at the church were Messrs. Alan Philpott and Arthur Blake.
He passed away on 20 May 1989 in Gisborne, Victoria, Australia[4] and was buried at the Macedon Cemetery, Macedon, Macedon Ranges Shire, Victoria, Australia[5].
