Samuel Sharp, married Hannah Armitage. The father was Seth Armitage, born in 1784, and died on March 23, 1864 at the age of 80 years. Internment was at Almondbury, England. The mother was Martha Armitage, born in 1785, and died December 11, 1863. Burial was at Little Carr Green in England. She was 78 years of age.
The Samuel Sharps had five children in England they were George, Fred, Tamar, and my great grandmother, Harriet, born February 1, 1844 near Halifax, or Wakefield, England. A son, Seth, died in England.
In America the two families settled in New Jersey for a brief period then moved on to Delaware. In Edgemoor, Delaware, the girls received some elementary education and then later went to Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, where Samuel Sharp and his ailing wife, Hannah, were located on a small farm. Hattie has a picture of their farmhouse taken when the girls were still quite small, in the 1860’s. They were playing on the lawn in front of the house.
"“My uncle and aunt (Aunt Tamar) stayed at their home and raised a family of a large number of children who were all Lucy and my cousins in Wilmington and we used to visit back and forth. In the summer time my cousin Minnie (Minnie Allott) came to visit in vacation and we had such a good time at grandmother’s (Hannah Sharp). "[1]
She passed away about 1878.
