Samuel was baptised on 4 November 1791 at Kipping Independent chapel, Thornton, Bradford, Yorkshire, the son of Joseph and Grace Armitage.[1]
He married Betty Whaley on 30 August 1824 at Bradford: Samuel Armitage, weaver, Betty Whaley, spinster, both marked with a cross, witnesses John Barker and Jonas Tasker.[2]
In 1841 he was living at Spring Gardens, Clayton, with Betty and their children Abigail, Grace, Mary, and Harriet. Their daughter Martha was living next door with his father Joseph and his sister Mary.[3]
