Biography

Ella was the only daughter of Charles and Ella R. Armitage. Ella was born in 1847. Ella Armitage ... She passed away in 1876. Ella R. Armitage was married to William Billiu January 1, 1866, by Rev. R. J. Harp. The following is from the Family History Notes by Kathleen Van Hoose Snow, granddaughter of Ella Rose Armitage Billiu. ""Rose Ella Billiu was born February 3, 1875 in Terrebonne Parish at the new one story and a half home of her parents, William G. Billiu and Ella Rose Armitage. Ella Rose's father, Charles Armitage, gave them the land which adjoined his large two story home and William built the house. Rose was the youngest child. Sallie was the oldest, then Abbie, Charles and Philip. Their mother, Ella Rose had a brother, Philip Armitage who was engaged to marry Sallie Winder, Ella Rose's best friend. Philip was living on some land where he was to build a home. He took pneumonia, Ella Rose was nursing him. He died and she took it and died when Rose Ella was seven months old." The 1860 Unites States Federal Census shows Ella Rose living in her father Charles Armitage's household along with L Armitage (mother), PS Armitage, WD Armitage, and A Armitage. ^[1]
