Thomas Henry Armstrong was born in May 1850.[1][2] He was the son of Thomas Armstrong and Eliza Garver.[1][2][3][4] He was also Sarah Elizabeth's twin.[1] Henry married Emma Tipple on January 8, 1898 in Darke County.[5] She (maiden name was Conrad) was previously married to Amos Tipple.[6] This was Henry's only marriage.[7] Hugh Lincoln Armstrong, Henry and Emma's son was born in Jackson Township, Darke County on August 31, 1899.[8] Besides Hugh, 2 of Emma's children from her previous marriage lived with them in the 1900 census while they were still in Darke County.[9] Before 1910, Emma and Henry moved to Union Township (Randolph County), Indiana.[7] They remained there where Henry was a laborer.[10][11]
Although his obituary published in the Union City Times on June 12, 1939 (See Notes) says his burial will be in Snell Cemetery, Hillgrove (Darke County), Ohio, his gravestone/memorial is in Union City Cemetery, Union City (Randolph County), Indiana.[12]

Death claims aged resident of Union City. - Funeral services for T. H. Armstrong, 89, to be Tuesday.
Thomas Henry Armstrong, 89, lifelong resident of the Union City vicinity, died at his residence 634 West Chestnut street, Sunday at 3:15 p. m. He had been in declining health since January, when he fell on the ice and sustained a fractured hip.
Mr. Armstrong came to Union City many years ago from Hillgrove, O., southeast of Union City. He attended the Hillgrove and Coletown schools. He was a retired railroad man and threshing machine operator.
The last of his family, Thomas Armstrong was the son of Thomas Armstrong, Sr. and Eliza Garver. He at one time was a member of the Union City Eagles club. He married Emma Conrad January 8, 1898.
Surviving are one son, Hugh Armstrong of Union City and the widow Emma.
The body was removed to the Fraze Funeral home in Union City were services will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p. m. with Rev. Carl Adams officiating. Burial will be made in the Snell cemetery, near Hillgrove. Friends may call at the funeral home to view the remains.
