David was born about 1855 in Darke County, Ohio.[1] He was the son of Peter Armstrong and Catherine Henning.[1][2][3] He married Kate Burkett on June 21, 1881 in Darke County, Ohio.[4] He and Kate had 9 children, 4 of whom lived by 1900.[5] At least two were girls, Annie and Addie Armstrong.[5] David worked as an engineer for a railroad.[5][6][7] He and his wife Kate and at least the two girls moved from Darke County to East St. Louis, Illinois.[5] David died in East St. Louis, on October 27, 1920.[8] He is buried in Snell Grove Cemetery, Hill Grove, Ohio.[9]
